Stanton: Multiple-Vehicle Accident Leaves Woman Pinned Under Wreckage
At approximately 9:00 a.m. yesterday, a woman was pinned under the wreckage of a multiple-vehicle accident at the intersection of Beach and Garden Grove Boulevards. The crash was triggered when a Honda Odyssey collided with a Jeep entering the intersection on a green light, sending the Jeep into a SUV traveling in the same direction. The impact ejected a female passenger from the Jeep and dislodged the vehicle’s roof, sending it into a Chevy Impala, as well as caused the SUV to rollover. When the vehicles came to a halt, the female passenger was trapped under the Jeep. Passersby lifted the vehicle off of her, and she was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition, along with the Jeep’s driver who sustained a cut over the eye. The sheriff’s Major Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating the crash, explains an Orange County auto accident attorney.
In the United States, motor vehicle traffic crashes claimed the lives of 33,808 people and injured 1,517,000 others in 2009, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. California accounted for 3,081 of the fatalities that year. A recent study ranked ten California cities among the 50 most dangerous for drivers in the nation.
