Please Welcome Our Rise To Shine Scholarship 2019

We’ve never done this before, and we couldn’t be more excited! We at Allen Flatt Ballidis & Leslie will be offering a $1,000 SCHOLARSHIP to high school seniors and current college students from across the country who are planning to continue their education! The money can be used for educational expenses, like tuition, supplies, or those all-important meal plans. See if you’re eligible to apply.

The Rise To Shine Scholarship was born out of our desire to engage and encourage the next generation of leaders, helpers, thinkers, and doers! We want to celebrate diversity, and since we have a pretty large staff ourselves, we know each person brings something unique to the table. But, we also want to acknowledge that it can be hard to let that person out. Being yourself, and polishing those strengths in a way that helps other people, is a lifelong pursuit.

For example, as lawyers, we used to fall into the habit of overselling our “expertise.” (We blame the schooling, as well as the current culture. But we digress.) In many cases, a lawyer is controlling the relationship with his client, doing the talking, not listening to the needs of his client, and as a result, his client is left feeling alone. We had to work on that! We found that speaking as a good listener, sharing and not dictating, and interacting have been so much more enlightening, fun, and engaging than trying to impress clients with our “expert” persona. They learn our expertise naturally in those cases!

So, what can you do to become “the best you?”

How You Can “Rise to Shine”

How do you plan to become your best self? It’s easy to think the answer is “go to college” or “volunteer with a cause” or “cure cancer,” but we’re talking about something different. Something small. What little things can you do now to form good habits, that will make you the person you’re meant to be? How do you celebrate your uniqueness – what you bring that no one else can – when you rise and shine every day?

Have you thought over your answer? Good. Now we’d like you to expand it to 500-1,000 words. That’s your essay. All you have to do now to finish the application is fill out some details. Done! And of course, share it with your friends!

When Is It Due?

We’re closing the scholarship on July 31, 2019. By 12:00 a.m. Pacific Standard Time, we won’t accept any more applications, and we’ll devote our attention to the ones we’ve already received.

Ready to apply now? Do it! We’ll be picking finalists in mid-August, and giving them a shout-out on our blog and Facebook page. Then, our office staff will buckle down and pick a winner by August 28, 2019. Who knows? We may pick two!

We look forward to getting to know you and helping you discover the potential you see in yourself every day. If you have any questions at all, please email gmoyer@allenflatt.com and ensure that the subject line reads “Attention: Scholarship Manager.” Good luck, everyone!
