Get Ready for the 2020 Rise to Shine Scholarship

A new year, a new decade, a new scholarship! We at Allen Flatt Ballidis & Leslie will once again be offering a nationwide $1,000 scholarship to help aspiring students achieve their dreams and pay for educational expenses. This award is available to both high school seniors and current college students who plan on continuing their education.

Our Rise To Shine Scholarship is designed to arm the next generation of leaders, helpers, thinkers, and doers with the tools they need to rise to any occasion. We believe every individual has something unique to offer the world, from hands-on experience to a creative mind, and our staff demonstrates that to us every day. But in a big pool of people, we understand the anxiety that comes with stepping forward and letting yourself shine. Fighting your footing, learning what your strengths are, and discovering how to grow into the person you want to be can take years.

At Allen Flatt Ballidis & Leslie, we treat every case as a learning experience. Once upon a time, we treated our expertise and knowledge as the only tools we could offer our clients. We believed we needed to take the reins of their case and guide it for them, but we discovered it only left them feeling isolated. We had to learn to listen, to attend to their needs and requests, and harmoniously work with them to reach the best results. In the end, we found that our empathy and attentiveness demonstrated the best we could offer our clients.

And this did not come to us immediately. It took time to grow and learn together as a firm. In the same way, we want to know how you grow each day?

How You Can “Rise to Shine”

How do you plan to become your best self? It’s easy to think the answer is “go to college” or “volunteer with a cause” or “cure cancer,” but we’re talking about something different. Something small. What little things can you do now to form good habits, that will make you the person you’re meant to be? How do you celebrate your uniqueness – what you bring that no one else can – when you rise and shine every day?

Take your time to think about your answer and, when you are ready, share it with us in a short essay. Your essay should be between 500-1,000 words in length and answer the prompt in a personal way. After you’ve finished (and proofed it, of course), just fill out an application and you are done!

When are Applications Due?

The due date for your essay and application form is May 12, 2020. After 12:00 a.m. Pacific Standard Time, we will not accept any more applications and will begin our review process.

Once you’ve submitted your essay here, make sure to check back on our blog and Facebook page for further announcements. We will be picking finalists and shouting them out on May 26th. Then, after further deliberations and discussion, we will announce the winner of the Rise to Shine $1,000 Scholarship on June 9th!

We cannot wait to learn more about you and what makes you unique. Make sure to reveal all eligibility requirements. If you have any questions at all, please email gmoyer@allenflatt.com and ensure that the subject line reads “Attention: Scholarship Manager.” Good luck, everyone, and don’t forget to share this opportunity with your classmates!
